The Arts and Crafts Capital of Kentucky!
Your visit to this very special small town with the big reputation will begin when a step-on guide joins the group to lead you on a tour highlighting the history and significance of Berea. Berea College was the first interracial college in the South and is noted today for the work study program which provides tuition to students from the Appalachia Region. The College Square and Old Town Berea shopping areas will be detailed as well as the Kentucky Artisan Center.
Lunch is on your own. You may choose to have lunch at historic Boone Tavern. They serve traditional and creative southern cuisine. The luncheon menu offers salads, unique sandwiches and hot entrees. “Chicken Flakes in a Bird’s Nest” and spoonbread are historical favorites in the dining room.
